A Treat for my Belly and Feet!

Good morning lovely people! I am pumped that it is already Thursday…it’s about time, amiright?

Asics Sample Sale

So, remember I told you on Tuesday that I was heading to the Asics Sample Sale (going on now through Sunday in NYC!) – well, it was a success!

I ended up with a new pair of running sneakers ($60), a sports bra ($17), a workout tank ($13), and of course a 6-pack of socks ($5) found their way into my basket in the checkout line – you can never have too many socks!

I tried to limit my spending and only buy things I need. The sneakers were a necessity – can you beat that price for brand new kicks? I was hoping to get a really fun color like pink or green, but since it was a sample sale and I have the smallest feet (size 5-6), my options were more limited than some of the other sizes, but I am really liking the bright coral accent color!

I’m always running low on sports bras and tank tops, so that was easily justifiable too…it always is 🙂

Vanilla-Chocolate Protein Smoothie

I put some of my purchases to use and started today with the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout. I think my body started getting used to the moves in Level 3, so I bumped it back down to Level 2, which is still a crazy good routine!

I love her 3-2-1 workout series. In this DVD, there’s a brief warm up followed by 3 circuits, each made up of 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute abs, concluding with a cool-down stretch. I don’t know why, but I really wasn’t feeling it this morning. I could already feel the humidity of the day and just couldn’t wait to be done!

I followed up this workout with a delicious smoothie. I decided to give Vanilla Almond Milk a whirl and threw the following into my blender:

Chocolate-Vanilla Protein Smoothie

  • 3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/4 frozen banana
  • 1 packet vanilla protein powder
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • A few ice cubes

This is one of my favorite smoothies so far! I’m not sure if the almond milk is to thank or what, I’ve been slow to jump on that bandwagon because I’ve always loved regular cow’s milk, but I’ll certainly be experimenting with it some more.

Finally, a very Happy Birthday to my beautiful mom today! I’m looking forward to going home to celebrate and seeing the fam next week 🙂

aren't they cute?

How about you?

Any necessary-splurgy, purchases lately?
