Good morning readers! AJ and I are headed to Hoboken after work to visit some friends, and we have a pizza night planned! So, yeah, I’m about ready for this work day to be over 🙂
But first, let’s get to this week’s installation of Friday Favorites!
Lunch Dates
Some of you know that AJ and I work together, that’s actually how we met (an office romance working out, who would have thought?). We’ll sometimes go into or leave work together, but we rarely see each other much during the day.
Recently, Chick-fil-A opened a store in midtown NYC so we decided to steal away for a little lunch date yesterday to check it out!
It was such a fun way to break up a busy work day, not to mention delicious!
Wint O Green Lifesavers
This might be a silly one, but I have been loving me some Wint O Green lifesavers lately. We received a few in some wedding goodie bags and when I finished those off, I decided to pick up a stash to keep in my desk at work. A little after lunch refresher! If I can’t brush my teeth after a meal, I find I need to pop in a mint or a piece of gum, it’s somewhat of an addiction!
Alex Cross Mystery Books
I’m a little bit of a bookworm. I’ve always loved reading. I think I’ve read nearly the entire Baby-Sitters Club series growing up, and getting lost in a good book is still one of my favorite past-times. I love a good series because you get to see the characters evolve and start to form an attachment to them (or is that just me?).
I’m currently in the middle of a few different series, but my obsession lately has been the Alex Cross Mysteries by James Patterson. These books follow Detective Alex Cross, a psychologist and cop in Washington DC, his life, family, and the various mysteries and crimes he’s trying to solve. These can get a little intense, but I literally cannot stop.
I’m just about to start the 9th book in the 22 book series, Big Bad Wolf – so excited! I’ve also discovered that the books I get into the most these days are murder mysteries, I’m not sure what that says about me.
Vanilla Pear Seltzer Water
I frequently talk about my love of flavored sparkling waters. Heck, I even wrote a whole blog post yesterday about drinking more water! But this flavor deserves a shout out. The Vanilla Pear was so delicious. I love vanilla flavored waters, I’m reminded of drinking a cream soda!
Brie and Pear Grilled Cheese
Clearly, I’m picking up the pear vibes this week. Our Blue Apron meal on Wednesday night was this Brie & Pear Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Brussels Sprout, Arugula & Hazelnut Salad.
The melty brie cheese paired perfectly with the sweet pair. And I love arugula salads, plus introducing the brussels to it was genius. I was actually sad when I finished my plate. The best part about this recipe is it’s so easy to recreate, so I will be attempting this again soon!
Finally, Happy Halloween! A friend just shared this fantastic info-graphic with me that I just had to pass along. Now you’ll never drink the wrong wine with your candy again – happy trick-or-treating 🙂

Let’s do a Halloween/Wine Pairing pairing party one year! So cute!
