Six Miles in Central Park

Happy Monday friends! Fortunately I’m off work today, and I’m so grateful for the 3 day weekend. What’s on my agenda this Monday? I’m attempting to infuse olive oil! It seems easy enough, but I’ll be sure to let you know how it turns out 🙂

But, before I get into my herbs and oils, here’s a little weekend recap for you!

I started Saturday off with a Jillian Michaels workout. Her No More Trouble Zones DVD is a great fitness routine that lasts nearly an hour with warm up and cool down. Once I finished my workout, I quickly blended up a Green Monster smoothie and AJ and I set off for Central Park.

AJ has a new hobby of growing oak trees. Yes, in our tiny apartment.

He wanted to go collect some more acorns and I was excited for a chance to get outside so I decided to tag along, plus I love an excuse for walking around the park with my husband. 🙂

One reason why I love NYC’s Central Park so much is the juxtaposition of nature and buildings. What a sight!

3 hours and 6 miles later we were back home! It was such a beautiful morning that we just kept walking and walking. We decided to explore the northern part of the Park. Central Park is always bustling on nice days, but as soon as we got north of 95th street, it had such a different (quieter!) vibe.

I can’t wait to check out the Central Park Conservatory this spring once the flowers are in bloom!

After a lunch of a Trader Joe’s kale and edamame salad, I took a nap on the couch before cleaning the apartment. Sigh, the need to clean never ends.

Saturday night AJ and I headed out for date night! As I mentioned yesterday, we decided to try out the new location of Crave Fishbar on the Upper West Side. The place was hopping and we had to wait about 45 minutes until a spot at the bar opened up. Finally we sat down and dug into our appetizers and entrees. Despite the wait, we were very pleased with our meals, everything tasted so fresh!

Sunday morning started off with church, a bagel from Zabars, and back home where I somehow got sucked into a Houdini movie on the History Channel. Random!

I finally got up off the couch after being a lazy bones because we had another episode of Cook in a Nook to film! Stay tuned for Episode #2 🙂

While taking a filming break, I happened to look outside and was so excited to see NYC get some snow too!

After dinner, we started watching Making a Murderer on Netflix, since it’s all the rage these days. I love me a good mystery, so I’m totally getting into this story!

Alright folks, that’s all I’ve got for you today. Whether your at work, catching up on chores around the house, or just relaxing today, I hope you are having a great Monday and Martin Luther King Day!
