Hi friends! I’m writing this post on Sunday night from a snowy NYC while binge watching Making a Murderer on Netflix – kind of obsessed. AJ and I started it last week but really got into the series yesterday. Have you guys been watching it?
So, what else has been going on this weekend? Well, as you may have heard, New York City got a little bit of snow. 26.8″ to be exact.
I woke up early on Saturday because I was really excited about the snow forecast. (Clearly, I’m a kid at heart!) I did a Jillian Michaels’ Killer Buns & Thighs DVD and spent the morning watching the news and looking out the window.
By the way, this post about Snowstorms in the 1970s vs 2016 is amazing, even though I wasn’t alive in the 70’s, I feel that storms are a way bigger deal these days than when I remember them in the 90’s!
Anyway, I heard at one point that the snow was falling at a rate of four inches an hour! We spent the morning and early part of the afternoon bundled up inside, watching movies and listening to the howling winds.
By the time 3pm rolled around we were getting a little stir crazy and decided to head out. The snow was pretty intense! This was the view that greeted us as we ventured out of our building.
We walked down our street and headed into Central Park.
We were bundled up, except I realized my gloves were a bit more “fashion” than function as my fingers quickly froze up. The snow kept blowing, and I also concluded the cotton leggings I had on weren’t the best idea once covered with snow, and I had some pretty frozen thighs.
However, the views made it worth it.
This picture of the Great Lawn in Central Park is one of my favorites! If you look closely, you can see people in the background. Can you believe this was our walk in the park just last Saturday?
After coming home and thawing out with some hot chocolate, AJ and I headed downstairs to hang out with our friends and neighbors and warm up some more with some red wine. 🙂
We were still in awe of all the snow when we ventured out on Sunday – cars were literally buried on the street!
We spent the afternoon with AJ’s brother Justin and his girlfriend Jess (in their new apartment!) and my sister-in-law Alyssa and her boyfriend Nick. The boys were seriously getting into some football.
We came home to the finish up Making a Murderer and eat some more snacks. (Moose Tracks ice cream for me!) It was a great snowy weekend, I only wish the storm came during the week so we could get a snow day out of it, but it was a great weekend anyway!
I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! Thank goodness for my favorite Hunter boots as I’m about to trek outside in the slush and snow!
How About You?
How was your weekend? Was it snowy or sunny?
Looks like a fun weekend!! I haven’t seen snow since living up north! It was a sunny, but really cold weekend in Florida! We had a couple days that started in the 30s!
