A Kelly & Michael, Captain America, Mother’s Day Weekend

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all you moms out there, and hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Mine was pretty busy but filled with early bedtimes, going to a TV show, a new movie, and of course, Mother’s Day!

I mentioned that AJ and I were at LIVE with Kelly and Michael on Friday morning! I gotta be honest, of our four times attending, this was one of our least glamorous trips. First of all, despite our Priority ticket status, we were waiting outside in the rain for a good hour, which totally stunk. Then we got inside and had to sit on the upper level (so much for getting better seats!) and they ran out of numbered tickets.

If you’re familiar with the show you know they always have someone on the phone line for “travel trivia” and a member of the studio audience always wins a $500 prize. Well, we didn’t even get a chance to be the lucky winner because they were short on tickets. Lame.

Anyway, the show itself was great and funny, as always. Guests were Tony Goldwyn, the President from Scandal and Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon in Captain America. (which we saw on Saturday!)

The rest of the day was filled with work, dinner, and catching up on some of our TV shows. I’m also pretty sure I fell asleep before 8:30pm and it was glorious.

Because of my ridiculously early bedtime I was up before 6am on Saturday. I do love quiet weekend mornings, so I didn’t mind my early wake up too much. I fit in an hour-long Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones workout, whipped up a Green Monster Smoothie, and got to work cleaning the apartment.

Before I knew it, it was time to start getting ready because AJ and I had tickets to the 12:45pm Captain America: Civil War movie. It was actually really good and I found myself really getting into it. The bucket of movie theater popcorn we split was also excellent.

Following the movie, we stopped at Amsterdam Ale House for my friend’s birthday celebration for a couple hours before popping into Luke’s Lobster for some lobster rolls on our way home. I love a good lobster roll and always find myself indulging in them more during the summer months. It’s a warm weather/beachy treat!

Saturday night meant watching a few minutes of the Kentucky Derby, catching up on some more TV shows, and another night asleep before 9pm. Party animals over here.

Sunday started pretty early again as we needed to figure out our Mother’s Day plans. After a few minor train missing mishaps and a longer-than-expected flower run, we finally made our way to New Jersey to spend the afternoon with AJ’s mom and family! My mom was out of town visiting my brother for the weekend, but looking forward to my family’s visit to NYC next weekend to continue the celebrations.

Happy Mother’s Day to these two special moms!

  1. When I went to Kelly & Michael I also had priority but waited in line so long and then ended up in the last row. Like you said, the show was still awesome, but the seats were pretty lousy. But it’s still such a great activity, especially since it’s free!

    Boo to Monday 😦
